A main character in modeling Argentina"s electronic music scene, Luis Nieva is a versatile artist who stands out through his wide-criterion musical selection and accurate technique.

His first approach to turntables in the mid 80"s was heavily influenced by many styles such as disco, soul, funk, Chicago house, synthpop, new beat and acid house. Techno from Germany and Detroit joined the list a couple of years later when, in the beginning of the 90"s, Luis started a few club residencies around Buenos Aires.

The foundation of mythical Urban Groove DJ crew in 1994 was a relevant milestone in his career. With highlights producing the first massive rave parties in the country and running the experimental after-hour club K-Dos, among other events, they caused a significative cultural change in the local scene. As a member of Urban Groove, Luis opened The Prodigy and Kraftwerk"s shows, held memorable 7-turntables sessions and shared the DJ booth with the likes of Daniel Bell, Ricardo Villalobos and DJ Hell. At that time, he began his now frequent visits to Brazil thanks to the Rave Sudamericana network.

After quitting Urban Groove, with fellow ex-member Miguel Silver, they conceived the powerful duo Spitfire in 2001. Since then, their 4 turntables n" effects dynamic set has toured around clubs in Argentina and South America, including performances at all Creamfields Buenos Aires editions, Brahma Beats Festival, SónarSound Buenos Aires, Cream Brazil in Curitiba and the renowned Skol Beats 2004 and 2006 in Sao Paulo.

Luis also holds a monthly residency at Niceto"s popular Club 69 nights and regularly plays in Argentina and Brazil. As if it was a palette where sounds and periods are mixed, his sets combine underground influences from the past with newer ones -from "old skool" to deep house and minimal- everything tapped in real time to vindicate the value of technique. Either as Spitfire or on his own, over the last years, he has performed alongside artists like Carl Cox, Colin Dale, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Dave Angel, Slam, Tiefschwarz, Aril Brikha , among others.

As a producer, he has released on different labels in USA, Europe and Brasil, under the name of Urban Groove, Default (with Leo Portela), Spitfire, and Luis Nieva. Since 2008, he has been leading Area Sur Records, label who has already signed music with huge artists like Andrea Bertolini, Oliver Moldan, Gabriel Rocha, among others.

Furthermore, Luis has provided his DJ skills on air through the After Hours and Late Night (Spitfire) shows on Metrodance 95.1 FM, today broadcasted by Delta 90.3 FM on the Delta Club show

Protagonista relevante en la formación de la escena electrónica argentina, Luis Nieva es un artista versátil que ha logrado destacarse gracias a una criteriosa selección musical y un excelente manejo de la técnica.

A mediados de los '80 se acercó por primera vez a las bandejas, fuertemente influido por la música disco, soul & funk, house de Chicago, synthpop, new beat , acid house, rave & hardcore, techno alemán y de Detroit se sumaron como referentes a principios de los '90, cuando empezó una serie de residencias en diversos clubes de la provincia de Buenos Aires.

En 1994 la creación del mítico colectivo de DJs Urban Groove, marcó un punto de inflexión en su trayectoria. Responsable de producir las primeras fiestas rave multitudinarias y el laboratorio experimental Pantheon / K-Dos en formato after-hour, entre otros eventos, la agrupación provocó un importante cambio cultural en la escena local. Con ellos Luis participó como telonero de Kraftwerk y The Prodigy, realizaron memorables sesiones a siete bandejas y compartió la cabina con artistas como Daniel Bell y Ricardo Villalobos, Neil Landstrumm , DJ Hell entre tantos otros importantes de la escena mundial. En ese entonces también comenzaron sus hoy frecuentes viajes a Brasil, gracias al lazo generado a través de la fiesta Rave Sudamericana 1998.

Tras desligarse de la Urban Groove, en 2001 formaron junto a Miguel Silver -compañero de Urban Groove- el potente dúo Spitfire. Con su dinámico set de cuatro bandejas y máquinas de efectos actúan en clubes de todo el país y Sudamérica, destacándose su participación en todas las ediciones de Creamfields Buenos Aires, Brahma Beats, SónarSound Buenos Aires, Cream Brasil en Curitiba y el prestigioso festival Skol Beats en Sao Paulo (2004 y 2006).

Por su cuenta, Luis mantiene una residencia mensual en las célebres noches de Club 69 en Niceto y toca en diversas ciudades de Argentina y Brasil. Como una paleta donde se mezclan sonidos y épocas, sus sets combinan influencias underground del pasado con las actuales -desde old school, hasta el house y techno actual , intervenidas en tiempo real para rescatar esencialmente el valor de la técnica. Ya sea con Spitfire o solo, en los últimos años ha compartido cartel con Carl Cox, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Dave Angel, Slam, Tiefschwarz, Aril Brikha, entre otros artistas consagrados a nivel mundial.

En su faceta de productor ha editado composiciones por diversos sellos de Estados Unidos, Europa, Brasil firmadas como Urban Groove, Default, Spitfire y Luis Nieva. Desde el 2008 lleva adelante el sello Area Sur Records, donde artistas de gran nivel internacional como Andrea Bertolini, Oliver Moldan, y Gabriel Rocha entre otros, ya han editado su musica.

Ha expuesto sus instruidas destrezas a través de los programas After Hours (Luis Nieva) y Late Night (Spitfire) en Metrodance 95.1 FM, actualmente sonando en Delta 90.3 FM en el ciclo Delta Club.
